Review: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (MGR for short) is an action hack & slash game developed by Platinum Games and produced by the now defunct Kojima Productions. It was released in February 2013 for the PS3 and XBox 360, and received a PC release in January of 2014. MGR is a spin-off of the Metal Gear Solid series, and stars Raiden, the “ninja” cyborg from MGS2 and 4. Set four years after Metal Gear Solid 4, it features Raiden facing off against a new group who threatens global security, Desperado. Being a Platinum-made game, it has the usual staples of crazy action, a steep learning curve, fantastic bosses and great music. But considering the Metal Gear series has primarily always been about stealthy gameplay, how does the very action packed Metal Gear Rising hold up in comparison?

Review: Hyrule Warriors

Sorry for the late post, life stuff got in the way, as well as the election news.

Hyrule Warriors is an action game developed by Omega Force and Team Ninja as a collaboration project between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo. It was released in 2014 and is one of the best selling games on the Wii U. Hyrule Warriors mixes together the characters and settings of the Zelda franchise with the gameplay and graphics of the Warriors/Musou series. While being a top seller on the Wii U isn’t exactly hard considering the small library, this unlikely combination managed to impress many people. Fans of both series were worried that the mixture would dilute what they loved about their respective series, meanwhile many had written it off as just another [insert name here] Warriors game. So what separates Hyrule Warriors from the pack and makes it enjoyable to fans and cynics alike? Let’s take a look…

If you know either Platinum’s usual gameplay over the top action style and have played/seen Pikmin, you might be wondering how they could possibly be merged together. Well Platinum managed to pull it off with their distinct flair, but is it a wonderful combination or a complete mess? Read on to find out…

Review: Child of Light

Child of Light is a Platforming RPG developed and published by Ubisoft in 2014.
